Questions regarding vbMagazine.

1) Subforum Layout Separate
Does it work as a subforum? Meaning the main forum has a normal display, and the subforum would have the magazine layout display. Goal is to have an article library under a main discussion topic/forum.

2) Floating Images and Captions
How well does it handle inserting images and captions? Meaning I have a picture intensive article, when laying out the article does it have easy align right, center, left with text floating around the image and caption?

vbGeeks GARS article system fails in this respect, so that's why I'm looking at vbmagazine. In GARS its difficult to align images with text.

3) Testing vbMagazine - Demo Area
How can I test creating an article to make sure it meets my needs in terms of publication ease?

4) Fluid/Fixed vbskins capability
Also, I noticed there is a notice that it's recommend to use a fixed vb style skin. Does vbmag not work well with fluid skins?

Thank you.

Hello, thank you for your inquiries.

1-vBmagazine uses one forum per magazine. Every time a new thread is posted in a magazine forum, it is automatically placed into moderation. You group many threads together to create an issue, selecting the desired layout. Then at publication time all articles in that issue will be visible.

Forumdisplay becomes an archives of all the issues

You could group all magazines/forums anyway you want. Only the defined magazines forums will display like that.

2-vBattach allows you to display images the way you want, exactly where you want. If you use with vBmultipages, it will display them in the secondary pages if you so desire.

Some Screen shots

adding and selecting images alignment (http://www.vbcover.com/forums/vbcart.php?do=product&productid=3)

adding a caption (http://www.vbcover.com/forums/vbcart.php?do=product&productid=35)

every time you upload an attachment, a caption box will appear.

3-The demos area is a totally different forum. You would need to register there and test in the playground for vBattach, vBcaption and vBmultipages. vBmagazine requires special privileges and these are not available to public.

4-We recommend fixed version for a simple aesthetic reason. A magazine being graphics intensive, you have better control over what everyone sees. Images do not adjust in size. Using a fluid version will not stretch them according to your member resolution. So what someone with a wide screen sees is totally different from what someone with a regular screen sees. Those are just basic html tips that we pass on to you. As a general rule, any website that displays graphics should have a fixed style, if you want global consistency. Suppose you have a normal screen, decide to make your thumbs xx pixels wide, create the perfect alignments, are very satisfied with what you see.... Well, someone else comes around and uses a wide screen, then those perfect sized images will get lost in there and will look awkward.

Again, this is just a recommendation.
