vbTournaments and Ladders

I got an idea for an good add-on. One I desperate need and I believe many others as well.... a TOURNAMENT and LADDER add-on (single or double elimination capable).

Many many vbforums are for gamers (PC/console and card/poker/gamble) and sports types (pro sports, hobbists) and would all benefit from a such a add-on. There have been several starts to attempt to have build a decent tournament and ladder system (which phpbb and others have btw) yet none of materialized... so its a wide open area with NO available scripts. Many of the largest gamers forums thrive on their tournament management systems.

I, for one, would GLADLY pay for one if just for lack of any alternative...especially if at the level of quality seen here.

Further, tournies/ladders often are related to competitive money stuff or prizes.... so there is defintely monetization opporunities for the vbulletin admin. That is, it would be incentive for us to use (buy) with the notion that it might actually make us money back.

Its needed. There is demand. and it could make the users money. A good combo, imo. Just a thought (an admittedly selfish one, yes...but like I said, I've been dying for one for forever!!)

omg!! no way!!! that's awesome!!!! if that will work for gaming (PC) -- u just made my day and I'm DEFINITELY all over it. heh...lemme know if you ever need Beta testers. :p ;) :D I have a gaming site (PC gaming) that could use this NOW.

Great! I am looking forward to get this. That's what I have been looking for this long time. I was looking for this for my site, which is vbulletin board. I want to add league site for sports gaming that included NFL, NBA, MLB, FIFA, NHL, etc. I can be beta tester for you and see what I can do to tell you what it should add or some changes.

One more thing, about statistics, add fields like goals instead touchdowns.

Team leaders, Player Leaders. Rankings?...

Goals, touchdowns etc ... you define yourself.

The bad news. I am allowing for only one league with as many divisions as you want.

You can register over there if you want, so you see the Ajax predictions

You said only one league.. people will think that vbsports means many sports like soccer, football, baseball, etc. If you plan to make one league for soccer league, suggest to make like vBsoccer.php.

Create vBsports.php to work with vBsoccer.php, and other sports like VBbaseball.php

Yes, I know one league is for one sport. I really want to get several leagues on my site. My site is all about sports into football,baseball, etc.

ok... just brief looks (haven't been able to delve into it): first thing I notice is...

I couldnt' find any Tournament bracket trees! ESSENTIAL for any tournament play, imo (or at least something that would be a great killer feature)

Other requests:
- LADDER system. This in itself has set of standard features with it. will give more details later (again, if not possible... oh well. but hey...worth at least letting ya know^^)
- reminder system for upcoming matches of course.
- if for whatever reason you decide to offer set of default icons with the system for gaming stuff.. UNREAL TOURNAMENT 3 is the way to go. :p ahem*cough*nudge :p lol jk.

Yes, I noticed on calendar system that you made. It is great!

I am not interesting in ladder system. It is great for clan. Not for sports.

I reckon it would be best if teams would be able to make 1 central clan and add teams (Or divisions) to it. In turn, those teams will be able to join a ladder or tournament.

Some suggestions on the clan system:
Allow the clan-leader to add a clan-logo, contact details, etc, etc. And allow team-leaders to add a team-logo. Also allow the clan-leader to promote other members to co-leader or something.

If this get's released i will definately buy it, if i have enough money.

I'd like to make a suggestion, perhaps development is not too far that this can't be added in some what.

Is EXCELLENT, but for another purpose entirely.

How difficult would it be for a member to be able to create their own "ladder" like the display, but the ladder begins with them (i.e. reversed). I can think of some very large applications and networks that could use this ability to track trees/pyramids in their communities.

For example, user creates a tree, indicates what two members are beneath them on the tree, and then those two members can do the same thing beneath them.

If you think about reversing the logic of a sports tourney, you can see that there are a lot of cool applications that use this sort of tracking.

I for one would make great use of it. In fact, if it is outside of the scope of this project, I would be interested in having it developed individually.
