This looks very interesting. Looks like it could possibly be used for Classified ads (auctions and such).
The products on this site are amazing. This place should be out in the public a bit more.

For auction system I have an exact replica of sitepoint with bidding etc. Unfortunately that is not for sale. It was made as a custom job for a client.
To use for classifieds or auction, you could easily charge them to create a thread (not included with this product, but I could make it as an extra module)

This is cool, reminds me of the joomla review extension on my site. Why didn't you create this before I used the joomla database??!! I have over 1,000 listings there. Oh well.. I might make use of it for something else :D. How much is it gonna be btw?

I have not set a price yet.
eXoOutsider gave me an idea about charging for a listing, so this could optionally turn into a classified
I also have vBadserver (with geo-targeting, dayparting, bid structure etc ...), vBsports which could accomodate any sport with predictions and fantasy (leagues and tournaments format) and vBmusic coming up.
I was considering vBchef for recipes, but vBreviews could handle that.
Joomla has a lot of nice extensions. I am determined to bring the nicest ones to vBulletin.
vBmagazine was inspired by a Joomla extension.
It will be very difficult to import your existing reviews. In fact this should be used with newly created forums with no threads in it. The reviews should be the new threads. I am not even allowing moving existing threads in the reviews forums.
Joomla and vBulletin are totally different. As far as I am concerned, vB is faster, more secure and more powerful.
I used to program in Joomla too, but stopped a few years ago to favor vBulletin.
Things have been a bit slow on the vBcover development side as I am swamped with custom work. My current one is a dating site with zip code distance etc ... plus I am toying with iVb, a clone of iGoogle, but with more options, and jQuery driven. Really nice!

The iVb is custom too? That's too bad since I might be interested.
I might be interested in some custom works whenever you have the time.

iVb started as custom work, but customer put it on hold. So ...
PM me with your custom work. The best would be to, in addition to specs, to provide me with a link of an existing one.

PLEASE WORK ON THE vBSPORTS!
I've been looking all over for something like a football pool/pick 'em type thing forever now. I've been using vBookie, but that only does so much haha

I am pretty much done with all difficult stuffs.
All that's left is the extra items in the left menu of main pages (half done)

How about an option for images, such as if we were going to use it for game reviews? And possibly a vbadvanced (featured review) type thing?
vBcover
10-06-2009, 05:58 PM
of course it uses images as many as you want. This is showthread :-)
vBadvanced will be done later on if I do

When will it be released!

it's actually packed and ready to go.
I have to do the demos, that's all. To me this is the hardest part. I haven't got that kind of patience and imagination for fake data
I also added a more or less complete list of features plus additional screenshots here (http://www.vbcover.com/forum/vbcart.php?do=upcoming&productid=48)

If you are interested PM me and I will PM you back with access to my demo on development site. It's fully functional, but contains a lot of junks :-)

Lionel, I'll have a copy of this aswell as soon as its ready, I've just lost over 6000 posts on my site due to a host's error so I need to start my review section from scratch anyway now..
Any idea of a release date??
I bought GARS sometime ago but I'd rather have this product..

hi, it is ready, packed, ready to go and in the store waiting to be put out. I just haven't got a chance to do the demos. The manual is done too. It's very simple to use and totally integrated with vBulletin.
If you are satisfied with the screenshots, PM me and I'll temporarily put it in the store for you.
I also have two major scripts coming out, an adserver and a sports management / predictions

Quick suggestion/ questions on the vBsports add-on.
1. Will it be able to use 'vbbux' as the cash type?
2. Could we use it for 'pick 'em' type things each week for American football?
vBcover
10-13-2009, 01:12 PM
I am pretty much advanced with it. Adding a point system is nothing. But should the points be used to award winners or to participate?
I don't know about American Football pick em. I made it such a way that it could accomodate any sports as you define the sports with what I call "in-game events" such as touchdown, saves, shutouts (for soccer) etc ...
And all those definitions including exact minutes scored can be rewarded.
People come and predict as they want. Games automatically creates a thread in preset forums.

don't know why. Anyway I reset it.
Create a couple of group info in Custom Groups Manager
then
you go to "vBcover Ireviews => Custom Fields Manager" and you can add custom fields
then assign criteria
and keep on going down the line
use the newly created forum Test Reviews to assign your creations and test in that forum. Make sure that you give appropriate permissions
P.S. Do not touch vBsports

Is it possible to set the option to NO for editor review.
I don't want editor to bias the post.
THanks -

hummm, I am not sure. I don't think so. Usually in all reviews systems, the person who writes the listing sets an editor review, then other people agree or disagree by submitting their reviews or by commenting on someone's review.
At first, if you did not select a review type, then the review info would not display, but after that I introduced two non custom fields inputs that are required and not controllable: the review title and the review itself. So those two would have to be filled no matter what.
However it is possible to disable user reviews
Or perhaps if you set it as not to allow reviews it would also disallow editor??? Not sure.

I haven't seen any site that allows the editor to rate their own products. They do provide editor review but not rating option. What would you rate your own product?
Please let me know if there a method to disable rating by owner!
Many thanks.

A product listed by an editor is not his product.
A movie listing placed by a user for example is not his movie.
Sorry, you can't

I thought I had it, but is much more involved than I originally tought. There must be an editor review

If I forgot an item to fill out in a new review the form ask me to submit the needed entries. But it clears the form. Is this a feature? ;-)

Yeah, this is a nagging part. Since the custom fields are created on the fly, I cannot prepopulate them unless from database.

Is it possible to give a review a publish date whicht automaticly set online/offline on a special date? For example a special for a new car?
vBcover
10-27-2009, 07:26 AM
Listings use showthread features with added custom fields. To my knowledge, showthread cannot do that
The only date that you can control is the amount of days to keep it as new.

When posting a new listing, extra fields (author, ratings, review-good/bad) appear between the Title and Message.
Is it possible to move these extra fields after Message area so that user can write Title, Listing Information and then additional info, ratings etc.
May be need to put $extra_fields variable after the message box.
Thanks!

editor review in showthread currently displays below message. When posting in newthread it displays there to avoid an extra query. Currently it is part of the same one query

I would also like to have an actual demo.
It will be great if we can remove the editor review section but after reading your posts, it seems hard to achieve that?
I'll be getting it once it get ported to VB4! Not sure how long though!
