View Full Version : vbCart - Discount Code

Hi all,

A first post here from a seasoned vbulletinner..

I am considering buying vbCart to control and manage payments for membership to our site. To become a member a one-off registration fee must be received by our administrator.

However, we wish to make exceptions for people we invite to become member, such as subject matter experts or any person who certainly will enhance the value of content we publish by posting. In such events we will waive the entrance/registration fee.

Therefore, is it possible for such members to use a discount code which they can enter at point of registration/payment? Once entered, the registration process proceeds as normal but without financial transaction. In essence, this is not much different from entering a Referral Code at the standard vBulletin registration page.

To push the envelope one inch further, we would like to make the validity of the Discount Code time dependent. We would allow an 'invitee' to register - for free - within, say, ten days time. Once the ten days lapse, the validity of the Discount Code voids. A new Discount Code must then be reallocated and assigned.

Question is: Can this be done somehow? I am sure other sites would benefit from such feature as well. If any vBulletin Cart Mod should do it, it's this one. Looks, feels and works like a charm as far as I've seen it, so including this feature/possibility could possibly raise this product's attractiveness off-the-chart. For us, that is.

Waiting for a response!

Cheers.

Hi,

All transaction must go thru paypal and paypal requires a minimum amount, as low as 5 cents.

On the plus side, it is possible to manually add a new customer in admincp and bypass paypal.

On the minus side, vBcart is conceived for downloadable items, such as scripts and not memberships. After successful transaction it adds a customer to a special group and does not remove customer from that group after expiration. It simply disables the download link and replaces it with a renew link.

Following your response we now have declared a day of local mourning at GBLCG...vbCart Cannot Do What We Would Like It To Do... [LOL]

Perhaps we initiated the birth of vbCart II aka vbRegistration?

Seriously, I'd love to get my hands on a product that can do what I previously described [see previous post(s)]. Any idea who may be of help to us?

Thanks!

This is easily done with current vbulletin subscriptions system and some tweaking
