VbCover Staff;
I like both of these products. I understand that vbmagazine is integrated with vbforum. Does vbherald have any relationship to vbforum and vbmagazine.
Does vbherald draw from threads in vbforums, vbmagazine and also RSS feeds too!
I like the idea of vbherald as a setup and let stand alone news portal.
Thanks for your guidance.

vBherald will be a major product. It has it's own topics and subtopics, e.g.
World
America - Europe - Asia
The subtopics have their own names, BUT each one of them is assign a forumid, for example subtopic America can draw from forum named : Nice architecture in America.
and that forum becomes a vbherald forum.
vBherald and vBmagazine are 2 independent products and have no relationships.
With vBmagazine you create priodical issues and they are here to stay forever.
With vBherald, once you add new threads, then the articles are replaced and previous ones can only be seen thru forum display.

VbStaff;
That sounds really exciting. So a forumid would it relate to a specific vbHerald subtopic. Would that be limitless like vbmagazine is to a forum.
A vbmagazine if as if in my case might not be needed if I prefer the VbHerald approach to news delivery.
Would a vbHerald then refer member to the vbHerald forumid to access the old topics in a special section or just standard forum search feature?
I am wondering if both vbMagazine and vbHerald could use the same databases and forums?
Thanks,

One of the pages looks as thought it is pulling from some of the vbMagazine Mags such as Architecture, Flowers and RSS feeds.
The different pages look different. Like turning a page of a newspaper.
This is what I am looking to wrap inside SD. But with this kind of layout it might not even be needed. I like it.
How much set up time will be required to get a VbHerald to look like your test site?
Will vbHerald use a vb theme from a vendor such as extremepixels?
Will vbHearald have different templates to choose from?
vbHerald is really cool and would create a really great focus for a forumid and tie into vbmagazine.
Actually, with vbmagazine as a permenant fixed storage device it would work great with vbHerald.
Wow!
Thanks for additional comment.

of course it's the same articles than magazine. This is a development site so I am using same threads so I don't have to do new ones :-)
vBherald is 100% vb compatible, so it will use whatever you have for style, as long as that style is vb compatible (not all are)
Setting up vBherald require some time. There are close to 500 settings. You probably will never have to use them, but they are there. Once you finish with your setup (could be done in one hour), then you don't have to go back in it again ... just post new threads as usual, and everything falls into places.
I am not doing styles, just some templates for different looks.
I've just came up with an annoyance with the flash in showthread and the vb menus... flash displays over the drop down :-(

If a customer purchased vbMagazine bundle today, then vbHerald could be added as a basic purchase without having to purchase another vbcover bundle?
Were my assumptions in previous threads correct as to the relationships between vbMagazine and vbHerald?
By your last answer I am making the assumption that they are correct?
Since I am not adept at vbadvanced, I would most likely use your templates to start. And over time slowly learn how to manage module placement etc.
Thanks for the insight.

vBattach and vBmultipages and vBcaption will work with vBherald, so no need to buy them again if you already own them.
A forum cannot be both vBmagazine and vBherald, as they both use their own postbits. You could copy threads from forums to forums. On the development site, I disabled vBmagazine so I could release the threads.
vBadvanced is the most easy and most powerful there is for vB. And support on their site is one of the best that I have seen.

Does it pull from vbMagazine like a RSS feed from a news source? Or were the files such as celebraties, architecture that were placed into your vbHerald just the same files reused separately by coping for purpose of demonstration?
Thanks, And signing off for now!

I like the concept of vbHerald. Actually I prefer it.
VbMagazine would have to have a RSS feed feature to be used with vbHerald if I understand correctly. (Other than the copy or linking to a thread.)
I would want the two products to be bridged by the vbulletin forumid.
That would be my expectation. I do not know the workings of the vbforum construction to make comment as to the difficulty involved to create any relationship between vbmagazine and vbherald?
Is there any work around that you are planning in the future to do this?
Is the relationship between the two products even needed?
Thanks,

These are threads in forums. So you could use vbulletin RSS.
Ask by vbulletin how to use RSS between 2 forums

Thanks for your info.
I have been reading a lot of posts and your commentary thruout this and other sites on your products.
I believe I understand that a vbmagazine is compiled from available vbulletin information placed into the vbforum with the additional help of vbadvanced modules that you have written. If the vbulletin RSS feed can be shared with another forum must it only be from the VBulletin forum part or does that forum also include all that you have in vbMagazine bundle associated with it.
I will search vbulletin for specifics on the RSS feed.
I am getting a little fuzzy around the edges now as it is late.
Thanks again in helping me with my decision for a future purchase.

I am afraid that you need to look for another script. vBmagazine does not deal/import from RSS. vBmagazine deals only with showthread. If you manage to import something into showthread via RSS then vBmagazine will deal with it.
Just so you know, all of my scripts interact with vBulletin contents only.
And the vBadvanced modules have nothing to do in helping in magazine issue creation. They are there only as a courtesy for those who wish to display part of the magazine in other pages.
